Melbourne
Transport - Melbourne has a good transport
system of buses, trams and trains. There is a Free
City Circle Tram in the Centre City where you can
get to most of the attractions in Melbourne without
to much trouble.
Bus
There is a private bus system operating in the city. Tickets can be purchase upon boarding the bus. Special passes have to be bought from designated sales outlets.
Trams
This public transport makes Melbourne city a unique sight compared to other Australian cities. The trams have an extensive system which covers the city and suburbs area. There is a free City Circle Tram that runs in both directions around the entire city at about 10 minutes interval.
Train
The train network has an extensive suburb rail system although it does not provide link from the airport to the city. In the city itself it has the City Loop. Flinders Street Station the main station in the city and it has number of customer services counter to provide information on timetable for trains.
Taxis & Limousines
Taxi services operate 24 hours daily on metered fares.
Luxury chauffeured limousines are also available for
hire. Tipping is not expected.
